The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday evening and night, with occasional breaks. Moderate to heavy snowfall is also expected in the upper districts during this period.

A westerly wave prevailing over the northern parts of the country is likely to continue until tomorrow. Under these conditions, intermittent rain and snowfall over hilly areas is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, Khyber, Mohmand, and Bajaur. Heavy rain accompanied by moderate to heavy snowfall is also likely.

Cloudy weather with isolated rain may occur in Haripur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, and Waziristan. On Wednesday and Thursday, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the province, with freezing temperatures in the upper districts. Cold winds are also expected in most districts during the afternoon, while isolated light rain or snowfall is possible in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, and Battagram.

Authorities have warned that heavy snowfall may cause road closures and slippery conditions in Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, and the Galiyat region. There is also a risk of landslides and avalanches in the hilly areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Tourists are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

Peshawar’s minimum temperature is expected to remain between 5°C and 7°C on Wednesday and Thursday. Widespread rain and snowfall have already been recorded across the province in the last 24 hours. Malam Jabba and Parachinar were the coldest places, with temperatures dropping 7°C below freezing. Other cold spots included Kalam at -5°C, Dir at -3°C, and Chitral at -1°C. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 7°C, with a morning relative humidity of 93 percent.

Residents are advised to take precautions against cold and plan travel carefully, especially in hilly areas affected by snow and rain.
