Jannat Mirza sparks online debate over “comfort lifestyle” message for women

Supporters call it empowerment, critics question its impact on traditional values.

Pakistani social media star Jannat Mirza has sparked a heated debate on social media after sharing a post that challenges traditional expectations placed on women and promotes a lifestyle centered on ease, comfort, and self-care.

Taking to Instagram, she reshared a message encouraging women to delegate household responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning, and daily chores wherever possible. The post argued that women should not be expected to constantly endure struggle or exhaustion in the name of responsibility.

The statement further suggested “normalizing luxury” and prioritizing personal well-being, framing comfort and support as necessary parts of a balanced life rather than unnecessary indulgence.

However, the post quickly divided opinion online. While many users supported the idea of self-care, empowerment, and reducing mental and physical burden on women, others criticized the message, arguing that it goes against cultural values and traditional family roles.

Critics on social media claimed the message promotes dependency and unrealistic lifestyle expectations, while supporters defended it as a modern perspective on mental health, equality, and shared responsibilities within households.

The discussion has since evolved into a wider debate about changing gender roles, individual freedom, and the balance between tradition and modern lifestyle choices in today’s society.
