ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik on Saturday reaffirmed that the government remains committed to passing on the impact of fluctuations in international oil prices to consumers, while fulfilling all international obligations, rejecting perceptions of preferential treatment in fuel pricing decisions.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the minister cited the latest international Platts benchmark data for petroleum products, highlighting recent volatility in global refined fuel prices.

According to the data shared, petrol prices during June 22–26 fluctuated between $90.36 and $98.35 per barrel, while high-speed diesel (HSD) was traded in the range of $104.79 to $109.09 per barrel.

“Please see the international Platts prices for petrol and diesel for this week. The government is neither favouring any sector nor imposing an undue burden on any segment,” the minister stated.

He emphasized that fuel pricing decisions are being made in line with global market trends and within the framework of Pakistan’s international commitments, ensuring that any possible relief is responsibly transferred to end consumers.

“The government remains committed to passing on any benefit to consumers while remaining within the ambit of its international obligations,” Ali Pervaiz Malik added.

Referring to recent policy measures, the minister said the government has so far reduced diesel prices by Rs200 per litre and petrol prices by Rs155 per litre under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The remarks come a day after the federal government decided to maintain existing petroleum product prices until further notice.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), petrol prices will remain unchanged at Rs299.50 per litre, while high-speed diesel will continue to be priced at Rs311.47 per litre.
