    Sri Lanka defeat Zimbabwe by 9 wickets

    In the 5th match of the Tri-Nation T20 series, Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by nine wickets, maintaining their hopes of staying within the event.

    The match was played at Rawalpindi Stadium, in which Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and chose to bat first.

    Zimbabwe’s batters struggled early and lost their first wickets for just 17 runs. However, the incoming batters played responsibly and helped stabilize the innings.

    Zimbabwe scored 146 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allocated 20 overs. Sikandar Raza scored 37, Brian Bennett made 34, and Ryan Burl remained not out with 37 runs.

    For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga took wickets each, while Dasun Shanaka claimed one wicket.

    Sri Lanka’s Dominant Chase:

    Chasing a target of 147, Sri Lanka’s openers gave Zimbabwe’s bowlers no chance. They reached the goal in just 16.2 overs, losing only one wicket.

    Kamal Mishra was dismissed for 12 runs; at the same time, Kusal Mendis stayed unbeaten on 25.

    The megastar of the match became Pathum Nissanka, who performed a fantastic knock of 98 runs, hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes. He turned into the award-winning player of the fit for his exceptional overall performance.
