KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has decided to purchase 1,000 additional Pink EV scooties for women as part of its efforts to improve safe and modern transportation facilities across the province.

The decision was taken during an important meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon.

During the meeting, officials reviewed new routes for the Peoples Bus Service, distribution of Pink EV scooties, EV taxi services, and ongoing as well as proposed mass transit projects.

Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that the government would soon launch intercity Peoples Bus Service routes in various districts including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad and Sanghar to further expand the province’s mass transit network.

He also said that new EV and double-decker buses would soon be introduced in Karachi, while new bus routes from Khairpur to Rohri and from Khairpur to Ranipur would be launched next week.

According to the briefing presented during the meeting, several new buses are expected to arrive in Karachi over the coming months, which will further improve travel facilities for citizens.

The senior minister directed officials to immediately resolve registration-related issues concerning the Pink EV scooties scheme.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh government was taking practical steps to empower women and provide them with safe and dignified transport facilities.

He added that projects such as EV buses, hybrid transport systems and Pink EV scooties are not only environmentally friendly but also economically beneficial for commuters.

The meeting also agreed to introduce more double-decker and hybrid buses to modernize the province’s mass transit system and reviewed multiple initiatives aimed at providing eco-friendly and quality transport services to the public.

He emphasized that the government was committed to modernizing the transport system across Sindh in phases, adding that women, students and daily commuters remained the government’s top priority.
