RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed eight Indian-backed militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kalat district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the military’s media wing, the operation was carried out on December 24 after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al Hindustan in the area. Security personnel raided the terrorists’ hideout, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

ISPR confirmed that eight Indian-sponsored militants were eliminated during the operation. A significant quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the site. The militants were involved in several terrorist activities in the region, targeting both civilians and security forces.

The statement added that sanitisation operations are ongoing in nearby areas to neutralize any remaining threats and ensure complete clearance of the region.

Reaffirming its resolve, ISPR stated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully committed to pursuing their counterterrorism efforts under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam.” The military emphasized that operations against externally backed terrorism will continue at full momentum to maintain peace and security across the country.
