The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in upper parts of the country from June 16 to 20.
According to the Met Office, a westerly weather system will affect the upper regions from June 16 and is expected to continue until June 20. Moist winds from the Arabian Sea will also enter the upper and central parts of Pakistan, causing widespread weather activity.
The Met Office said that Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Mandi Bahauddin are likely to receive dust storms, strong winds and rain with thunderstorms, along with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms during this period. Similar weather conditions are expected in several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.

In Sindh, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur and Shaheed Benazirabad may experience dust storms, gusty winds and thunderstorms from June 16 to 20. Karachi and nearby areas are also expected to witness dust storms along with light rain.
Many districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms occurring at intervals during the forecast period. In Balochistan, several areas, including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat and Khuzdar, are also expected to experience similar weather conditions.
The Met Office said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir may receive rain, strong winds and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms from June 16 to 22, while Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to receive rain with thunderstorms from June 18 to 22.
The department warned that strong winds, hailstorms and lightning could damage weak structures such as solar panels, electricity poles and billboards. It also cautioned that landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore and Faisalabad.
Farmers have been advised to plan their agricultural activities according to the weather conditions, while tourists and travelers have been urged to remain careful and avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.
