ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has strongly rejected claims circulating in Afghan media regarding an alleged attack on a university in Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

According to the ministry, Afghan media outlet Tolow News claimed that Pakistani forces carried out attacks on April 27, 2026, targeting the Syed Jamaluddin Afghan University and nearby residential areas, resulting in three deaths and 45 injuries.

The ministry termed these allegations “completely false and baseless,” stating that no such operation or attack was carried out by Pakistan on the mentioned university or civilian areas.

It further said that the fabricated reports are part of an attempt to gain sympathy and conceal alleged support provided by the Afghan Taliban to militant groups, including “Fitna al-Khawarij.”

The statement emphasized that Pakistan’s military actions are intelligence-based, precise, and targeted only against terrorist elements.

It added that this is a recurring propaganda pattern in which Afghan media allegedly spreads false narratives to protect militant proxies, which are later amplified by Indian media outlets.

The ministry reiterated that such false claims undermine regional peace efforts and are intended to mislead international audiences.

The Ministry has issued a detailed fact-check exposing what it described as a coordinated propaganda campaign by Afghan media regarding alleged attacks in Kunar province.

According to the statement, reports circulating in Afghan media about supposed military operations in the region are false and misleading, and are allegedly being promoted with external backing.

The ministry said the Afghan interim authorities are increasingly relying on misinformation and negative narratives due to failures in governance and public welfare delivery.

It further claimed that the propaganda model being used mirrors tactics learned from Indian disinformation networks, including the spread of fabricated stories and false flag narratives.

The statement termed the allegations as baseless, absurd, and unacceptable, stressing that Pakistan rejects such claims outright.

Referring to “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” the ministry reiterated that Pakistan maintains a clear stance: whenever terrorist hideouts are targeted, operations are conducted transparently and supported by evidence.

It added that actions against terrorist infrastructure and facilitators will continue with proper documentation, reaffirming that there will be no compromise on national security.
