KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy has initiated a humanitarian rescue operation in the Arabian Sea to assist a distressed merchant vessel, security sources said.
According to officials, Pakistan Navy personnel are currently providing emergency assistance to six Indian and one Indonesian crew member aboard the vessel MV Gautam, which experienced a technical malfunction while sailing from Oman to India.
Security sources stated that the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities after the vessel reported mechanical failure at sea.
Following the distress call, the Pakistan Navy swiftly deployed a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency ship, named PMSA Kashmir, to conduct the rescue and support operation.
The affected crew members are being provided with food, medical assistance, and technical support during the ongoing operation.
Officials said the Pakistan Navy remains fully committed and prepared to respond effectively to any maritime emergency in the region, reaffirming its role in humanitarian assistance at sea.
