Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, announced on Friday that the government of Pakistan will provide 700,000 Chromebooks to students across the country.

While speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, Rana Mashhood said that empowering young people is the government’s top priority. He stressed that the government is committed to giving equal opportunities to youth for growth and development in all parts of Pakistan.

He also said that overseas Pakistanis are showing strong interest in investing in the country, which will help improve economic activity and open up new job and skill-building opportunities for young people.

Rana Mashhood shared that the TIF Foundation Lahore is working with the government to supply 700,000 Chromebooks. The aim of this project is to strengthen online education and help students in schools, colleges, and universities make better use of modern digital learning tools.

He added that the Chromebooks will be distributed in different phases and that transparency will be ensured during the process across the country. These devices will help students access online learning platforms, updated study materials, and software that supports research and creative learning.

To ensure equal access to education, he also announced that students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be included in the Chromebook Programme.
