Another spell of monsoon rain and gusty winds is expected across the upper and central parts of Pakistan from August 13 to 15, with occasional breaks.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist monsoon currents are entering the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave is also affecting these areas.
Rain and thunderstorms, along with gusty winds and isolated heavy rainfall, are expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northeastern Punjab from the night of August 12 to August 15.
Areas likely to receive rain include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Kotli, Mirpur, Diamir, Astore, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Haripur, Kurram, Khyber, Murree, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and nearby districts.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the Pothohar region are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms from the evening or night of Aug. 13 through Aug. 15, with occasional breaks.
Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel during the same period.
In Sindh, southeastern and coastal areas are expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy. Tharparkar, Umerkot and Sanghar may receive rain and thunderstorms on Aug. 12 and 13, while other parts of the province are likely to remain hot and humid.
The Met Office has warned that heavy rain could cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Swabi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore.
There is also a risk of landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas, particularly in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir. Tourists and travelers have been advised to exercise caution while visiting these areas.
Farmers have also been advised to plan their agricultural activities according to the weather forecast and take necessary precautions to protect their livestock.
