TEHRAN: Iran has expressed strong concern over recent US military actions, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi holding a telephone conversation with Field Marshal Asim Munir to discuss the evolving regional security situation.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Araghchi condemned the US strikes, describing them as violations of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the spirit of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
During the conversation, the two sides exchanged views on rising regional tensions and the latest security developments.
Araghchi said Iran would not yield to what he described as US aggression and remained committed to defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
He warned that any failure by US authorities to honor existing agreements and commitments would reflect the continuation of Washington’s confrontational policies.
The Iranian foreign minister added that if the United States carries out further military action, Iran will exercise its right to self-defense and take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests.

Earlier, Iran struck U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain on Thursday, hours after the U.S. military launched a second wave of overnight strikes on Iran that officials said were aimed at keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to shipping.
The retaliatory attacks came after President Donald Trump declared that an interim agreement aimed at ending the war was “over.” Trump said the fresh U.S. strikes were carried out “in retribution” for an Iranian assault Tuesday on three cargo ships transiting the strait.
Iranian state media reported that a maritime traffic control tower in the southern port of Chabahar was hit overnight as part of the American strikes along Iran’s southern coast.
