YouTube has rolled out one of its most significant updates in recent years, bringing major changes to its search experience for users.

According to YouTube, the platform has redesigned its search filters to make it easier for users to find the content they are looking for. This update is being introduced gradually on both the YouTube website and the mobile app.

One of the most important changes is the addition of dedicated filters for YouTube Shorts. With these new filters, users can now choose whether they want to see only Shorts videos in search results or limit results to long-form videos, channels, playlists, or movies.

Previously, YouTube displayed Shorts and long videos together in search results, which often made it difficult for users to find specific content. With the new update, users can completely remove Shorts from search results or search exclusively for short videos.

This means that users who are not interested in Shorts can now easily find longer videos without distraction.

In addition to Shorts-related filters, YouTube has also redesigned other search categories. The video duration filter is being updated with new options, including an “under 4 minutes” category and a mid-range duration bracket.

The sorting options are also changing. The traditional “view count” option is being replaced with a “popularity” filter, which will take both views and watch time into account. Meanwhile, the “last hour” and “sort by rating” filters are being removed from the platform.

YouTube says these changes are aimed at improving content discovery and providing a more personalized and efficient search experience for users.
