WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump is in “excellent health” and fully fit to perform his presidential duties, according to a medical report released by the White House following a recent examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, in a memo issued on Friday, said the 79-year-old president continues to show strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function, adding that he remains “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.”
The medical assessment was conducted during Trump’s visit to Walter Reed earlier this week, his third such check-up in 13 months, which has drawn public attention amid ongoing scrutiny of his health.
The report noted that Trump continues to experience mild lower leg swelling, although it has improved compared to last year.
It also confirmed the presence of benign hand bruising, which was described as common and consistent with minor tissue irritation linked to frequent handshaking, along with the use of low-dose aspirin for cardiovascular protection.
Dr. Barbabella stated that the president’s cardiac function remains normal, while neurological evaluation showed no abnormalities, including clear results in screenings for mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
The memo further recommended routine preventive care, including dietary guidance, increased physical activity, continued use of low-dose aspirin, and weight management.
Trump, who turns 80 in June and is the oldest person to assume the U.S. presidency, briefly commented after the examination, saying that “everything checked out perfectly.”
The report did not reference any new MRI scans during this visit, nor did it provide additional details regarding a separate skin treatment on the president’s neck earlier this year.
The latest health update comes as the White House continues to periodically release medical assessments of the president amid sustained public and political interest in his fitness for office.
