    Weather update; rains and gusty winds predicted in Lahore, Punjab

    Lahore and various parts of Punjab are expected to experience monsoon rains and gusty winds, with isolated heavy showers on Monday night and continuing for the next two days.

    According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are moving into the upper and eastern regions of Pakistan, likely extending to the central and southern areas.

    Weather Forecast

    Monday Night:

    • Monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Okara.
    • Isolated showers are also predicted in Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
    • Heavy falls may occur in some northeastern and southern districts.

    Tuesday and Wednesday:

    • Continued intermittent monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in the same regions, with the addition of Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanewal, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
    • Heavy falls are likely in a few northeastern and central districts.

    Potential Hazards

    • Heavy rains may cause flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in northeast Punjab on July 29th and 30th.
    • Urban flooding is possible in low-lying areas of Lahore and northeast/south Punjab during this period.

    Temperature Forecast

    • Lahore: Maximum temperature of 34-36°C on Tuesday and 33-35°C on Wednesday.
    • Bahawalpur: Recorded the highest temperature at 43°C.
    • Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan: Maximum temperatures recorded at 42°C.
    • Sargodha: Maximum temperature recorded at 40°C.
    • Lahore: Maximum temperature recorded at 36°C with 69% relative humidity in the evening.

    Recent Rainfall

    • Rawalpindi: Chaklala (81mm), Shamsabad (68mm), Kacheri (56mm).
    • Islamabad: Saidpur (57mm), Golra (54mm), Zero Point (39mm), Bokra (38mm), Airport (10mm).
    • Sargodha (43mm), Mandi Bahauddin (30mm), Jhang, Murree (24mm), Khanpur (18mm), Noorpur Thal (15mm), Mangla (12mm), Attock (08mm), Faisalabad (07mm), Joharabad, Toba Tek Singh, Chakwal, Narowal (01mm).

    Conclusion

    Residents are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to avoid potential flooding and related hazards.
