The 39-year-old will play his 88th and final test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, concluding a career with over 6,000 runs.

Australian cricket’s beloved star, Usman Khawaja, is hanging up his boots, announcing his retirement from international cricket after a dazzling 15-year journey.

The 39-year-old will take his final bow during the Ashes series at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), where his career first began. As Khawaja gears up to play his 88th Test match, he reflects on a remarkable career that has seen him amass over 6,000 runs and leave an indelible mark on Australian cricket.

Debuting in 2011, Usman Khawaja quickly became a cornerstone of Australia’s batting line-up, renowned for his technical skill, composure under pressure, and consistent performances.

Beyond his on-field success, he has also made a significant impact off the field through the Usman Khawaja Foundation, inspiring young athletes and promoting opportunities for underprivileged youth.

Usman Khawaja is also celebrated as the first Pakistan-born and first Muslim cricketer to represent Australia at the Test level, breaking barriers and serving as a role model for aspiring cricketers worldwide.

His accolades include being named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year in 2023 and playing a pivotal role in Australia’s ICC Test Championship-winning squad the same year.

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg praised Khawaja as “a stylish, dependable, and inspirational figure” whose legacy extends far beyond the pitch.

Reflecting on his career, Usman Khawaja said, “I feel immense gratitude for every opportunity I’ve had wearing the Australian cap. Cricket has given me so much, and I hope my journey inspires others to chase their dreams with passion and perseverance.”

Fans and teammates alike will celebrate Khawaja’s farewell at the SCG, honoring a career defined by elegance, dedication, and trailblazing achievement.
