President Donald Trump is said to favor a short and decisive military action rather than a prolonged conflict, British media reports

The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to meet today at the request of the United States, as concerns grow over a potential military escalation involving Iran.

The development comes amid heightened military activity in the Middle East. The Pentagon has dispatched the USS Abraham Lincoln naval strike group to the region. The deployment reportedly includes warships, cruise missiles, and fighter aircraft, signaling a significant show of force.

According to U.S. and British media reports, President Donald Trump is said to favor a short and decisive military action rather than a prolonged conflict. Foreign media outlets have suggested that any potential U.S. strikes could focus on Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Basij paramilitary force, and police units, possibly using cruise missiles.

Diplomatic missions have begun taking precautionary measures in response to the rising tensions. The British Embassy in Tehran has been closed, with the ambassador and embassy staff departing the country. In addition, India, Spain, Italy, and Poland have reportedly advised their citizens to leave Iran due to security concerns.

Britain has also decided to withdraw its personnel from a U.S. military base in Qatar, citing the risk of regional instability.

The situation remains fluid as international attention turns to the UN Security Council meeting, which is expected to address the growing risk of conflict and its implications for regional and global security.
