Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of a planned visit by a US delegation to Islamabad, saying the decision was made due to the long travel time and cost.

Speaking to the media in Washington, Trump said the delegation, which was expected to meet Iranian officials, would no longer travel to Pakistan. He stated that the journey would take around 16 to 17 hours and was not worth the time or expense.

He added that there is uncertainty and internal differences within the Iran leadership, claiming that even they are unclear about their leadership structure.

Trump said that although the visit was initially planned for talks related to the Iran-US situation, the US would not send officials for what he described as unproductive discussions after such a long journey.

The US president also appreciated Pakistan for its role in trying to help resolve tensions between the US and Iran. He praised Syed Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif, calling them capable leaders who want the issue to be resolved.

Trump further said that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are important members of his team, but they would not undertake such a long trip. He added that the decision was also influenced by the cost of the visit, stressing that the US would not spend money on travel for discussions that may not lead to meaningful results.
