Taylor Swift may have married Travis Kelce, but apparently she also married into a very unexpected job: being the NFL’s biggest unofficial attraction.
Since the pop superstar began dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in 2023, her game-day appearances have become events of their own.
Cameras find her, social media lights up and suddenly even casual football viewers are paying attention.
Digital PR expert Euan Jones calls it the “Swift effect.”
“The ‘Swift effect’ on NFL viewership has been one of the biggest unplanned marketing wins in the league’s history,” Jones said. But he believes there’s now a catch.
“It’s created a strange problem, broadcasters and the Chiefs now have a genuine commercial interest in her attendance, not just a personal one.”
Her absence can be just as newsworthy.
“Every game she’s confirmed for gets treated as a bigger event, so any suggestion she might miss one becomes its own news story,” Jones said.
Swift has previously addressed complaints about how often broadcasts show her at games.
“There’s a camera a half-mile away, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast.”
And sources claim the attention is taking a toll.
“Game days take a lot out of her,” the source said. “Because the cameras are on her from the second she walks into the stadium until the moment she leaves, and everything she does gets dissected online a million times over.”
The insider also claims Swift feels pressure within the WAG circle.
“Taylor picked things up very quickly, but there’s no doubt she still gets anxiety about it all,” added the insider.
“She’s very much the queen of the WAGs. It’s obvious that any of these women would kill to be in her inner circle, so of course, there’s a lot of jealousy, because there’s simply no way that she can have a close relationship with everyone. It might sound ridiculous that Taylor would even care about how she’s perceived among these women, but she absolutely does because she knows it reflects on Travis.”
“Travis keeps telling her not to overthink things because all that matters is that she’s there. But Taylor’s a people pleaser by nature, and she always wants everyone around her to be happy.”
Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for those wedding photos. Kelce has already called the wedding the “best night of my life,” but Swift remains silent.
