Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, said talks with Oman in Tehran are continuing through several rounds while accusing the United States and Israel of being responsible for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the disruption of international shipping.
Esmaeil Baghaei said the discussions with Omani officials, which began in Tehran last week, are ongoing and that additional meetings were held Thursday.
Speaking to the ILNA news agency, he said the Strait of Hormuz is currently closed because of U.S. actions and the insecurity Washington has created in the waterway. He added that international shipping is being disrupted solely because of U.S. actions.
Baghaei said the current situation is the result of what he described as military aggression by the United States and Israel that began March 28 and continues in various forms. He cited attacks on Iranian vessels, what he described as an illegal blockade of ports and transit routes, and ongoing strikes against Iran.
