Shelly Loraine Kearns’ loving relationship with her singer-daughter, Christina Aguilera, has been revealed.
In an interview with Paper magazine, Christina explained how her mother’s determination helped shape her perspective on life.
“I watched my mom have to be submissive, watch her Ps and Qs, or she’s gonna get beat up,” she said.
“You can either be, unfortunately, so damaged by it that you take a turn for the worse, or you can feel empowered by it and make choices to never go down that route,” added the Candyman himaker.
In June 2016, Christina penned a heartfelt message for her mother, crediting Shelly for supporting her childhood dream of becoming a musician.
“Mom, thank you for driving me to my singing jobs when I was seven and helping me realise my dreams,” she wrote alongside a picture of herself with her mom.
“When women support each other, we accomplish amazing things,” added Christina.
