West Indies captain Shai Hope has etched his name into cricketing history with a record-breaking performance in Napier.

In the second ODI of the three-match series against hosts New Zealand on Wednesday, Shai Hope delivered a brilliant unbeaten knock of 109 runs, leading from the front with remarkable composure.

With this century, Shai Hope Hope achieved a unique milestone, becoming the first batter in the world to score centuries against 13 different international teams all 11 Test-playing nations, plus the Netherlands and Nepal.

He has now surpassed legends such as Chris Gayle and Mahela Jayawardene, who each scored centuries against 12 different international sides.

This innings also marked Hope’s 19th ODI century, bringing him level with West Indies icon Brian Lara. Chris Gayle remains on top for the Caribbean side with 25 ODI hundreds.

Earlier in the match, West Indies posted 247/9, but New Zealand successfully chased the target with five wickets in hand, taking a 2–0 lead in the three-match series.
