RAWALPINDI: Security forces have neutralised 11 terrorists belonging to India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the operations were conducted on January 8 in North Waziristan and Kurram districts.
In North Waziristan, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation targeting terrorist hideouts. Following a fierce exchange of fire, six Khawarij were killed. The ISPR said the operation was conducted successfully and effectively.
In a separate IBO in Kurram district, five more Khawarij were neutralised during an exchange of fire.
The ISPR added that a large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the killed terrorists, who were involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces, law-enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians.
Sanitisation operations were also carried out in both areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists, the statement said.
The military said these operations were conducted under the broader vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, aimed at the complete eradication of foreign-backed terrorism from the country.
