Former Pakistan cricket captain Sarfraz Ahmed has officially announced his retirement from international cricket, closing the chapter on a stellar career that saw him command the national side in 100 international matches.
Sarfraz’s career boasts 54 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 61 T20Is, during which he scored an impressive 6,164 runs. Behind the stumps, he was a formidable presence, securing 315 catches and 56 stumpings, consistently demonstrating exceptional skill and sharp reflexes.
Under his leadership, Pakistan achieved historic milestones: clinching the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and ascending to the world’s number one T20 ranking.
Sarfraz remains the only Pakistani captain to have secured ICC titles at both junior and senior levels. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, he was awarded the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 2018.
Reflecting on his journey, Sarfraz described representing Pakistan as the highest honor of his life, citing the victories at the 2006 ICC Under-19 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy as defining career moments.
