Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal worked together on the movie, Foe, and have been inseparable friends since, so the Beetles biopic came as a pleasant surprise to the both of them.
The two Irish co-stars will be playing Paul McCartney and his wife Linda McCartney in the four-part biopic.
Speaking about reuniting with the Normal People star, Ronan said, “I mean, it’s a completely different world, but, like were still married. I think we got a lot for free because we had this really intense, intimate experience making Foe years ago, and we were together every second of the day and we spent all of our time together, off camera as well. And were really close friends now. There was no time that needed to be spent on like finding chemistry. I think that’s really benefited us. And the film.”
Speaking more about immersing herself in the role of McCartney, the Ladybird star added, “All I will say is that I’m a huge Beatles fan, as we all are. To be immersed in that world, and to be with the crew who have done years of research and the boys who have done years of research, it’s really inspiring to be around it. And also just to learn more about Linda and how she kept the family together, and how great an influence she was on Paul, and how an incredible mother she was. She was so adored by everyone in her orbit.”
Fans flocked to the comments and wrote, “married in foe and married in beatles lore is a crazy pipeline but honestly good for them.”
Another added, “foe already married them so beatles chemistry comes free,” and “the married bit is funny because foe was basically a two person play about a marriage falling apart.”
