South Park is giving Trump exactly what he wants.
Amid the U.S. President’s bid to change the names of geographic features to include “America,” South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced Tuesday, September 8, that the animated comedy will supposedly become South America ahead of its 29th season,
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the duo wrote in a press release. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
The announcement came with new season 29 artwork reflecting the gag re-titling.
The move continues South Park’s ongoing mockery of Trump, whose administration has remained a major target for the show. The name-change specifically takes aim at Trump’s push to rename geographic features, including the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, while he recently floated changing New Mexico’s name to New America.
Apple and Google have faced criticism for reflecting some of those changes on their maps.
