ISLAMABAD: The Royal Thai Embassy in Pakistan, in partnership with Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, hosted a free health screening medical camp to commemorate the Birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, providing hundreds of underserved residents with access to consultations, diagnostic services and medicines.

The one-day camp drew hundreds of patients who received care across multiple specialties, including general medicine, breast health and diet and nutrition. Free screenings and medications were offered on-site.

His Excellency Rongvudhi Virabutr, ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Pakistan, toured the facility with a delegation from the embassy. He was received by Yasir Khan Niazi, group chief executive officer of GAK HealthCare International, and Dr. Areej Neyazi, director of Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital, along with senior hospital management.

The ambassador visited consultation and diagnostic areas, met with patients and praised the work of doctors, health professionals and volunteer students from Islamabad Medical & Dental College, who assisted with patient guidance and operations.

“Commemorating His Majesty the King’s Birthday through service to the community reflects the values of compassion, goodwill and friendship that continue to strengthen the longstanding relations between Thailand and Pakistan,” Virabutr said. He also commended the professionalism of medical teams and volunteers.

Yasir Niazi said the initiative underscored the potential for deeper bilateral cooperation.

“Healthcare has the unique ability to bring nations together through compassion and service,” he said. “Pakistan and Thailand enjoy warm and longstanding relations, and there remains significant untapped potential for collaboration in healthcare, medical education, public health, clinical training, research and knowledge exchange.”

He added that the hospital remains committed to supporting initiatives that expand access to quality care and advance international cooperation.

Patients expressed gratitude for the free services, with many describing the camp as timely and beneficial for families facing financial barriers to preventive care.

Organizers said they hoped collaborative efforts would continue to improve community health, strengthen people-to-people ties and deepen Thailand-Pakistan cooperation in the healthcare sector.
