Rohit Sharma Sets New ODI Sixes Milestone, Leaving Afridi Behind

India’s former captain and veteran opener, Rohit Sharma, has broken a record that belonged to Pakistan’s ex-captain Shahid Afridi for over a decade. Rohit is now the participant with the maximum sixes in ODI cricket history.
The 38-year-old achieved this milestone during the first ODI of the three-match series against South Africa in Ranchi. He scored a calm 57 runs, hitting 5 fours and three sixes, which helped him surpass Afridi’s record.
Shahid Afridi, who retired from ODI cricket in 2015, had hit 351 sixes in 398 matches. Rohit now has 352 sixes, taking the top spot and rewriting one of cricket’s most famous records.
West Indies’ Chris Gayle is 1/3 on the all-time list with 331 sixes. Among current players, Rohit is followed by Virat Kohli with 157 sixes and Australia’s Glenn Maxwell with 155.

Earlier, India’s KL Rahul said the team is focused on putting their current test series defeat against South Africa behind them. India lost the opening test in Kolkata by 30 runs and then suffered a heavy 408-run loss in Guwahati.
Rahul, 33, captained the team for the ODI series as the normal skipper, Shubman Gill, is recovering from a neck injury. He emphasized that winning the series is the top priority:
“We are focusing on tomorrow’s game and trying to give a collective performance that helps us win. Then we’ll move to the second venue and aim to win the series. That’s the most important thing,” Rahul said in Ranchi.
