Washington / Tehran: Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s former Shah, has appealed to US President Donald Trump for immediate intervention in light of the ongoing anti-government protests in Iran.
Posting on social media, Pahlavi wrote: “Mr. President, this is an urgent appeal for your immediate attention, support, and action. Please be ready to intervene to help the people of Iran.”

While Pahlavi did not specify the nature of the intervention he seeks, he highlighted concerns over the government’s internet shutdown and the potential use of force against protesters.
The protests in Iran have intensified in recent days, spreading to over 100 cities, according to international human rights organizations.
In Tehran and Mashhad, demonstrators took to the streets late at night to protest against the government. So far, 47 people have reportedly been killed, including several security personnel, and around 2,500 individuals have been arrested.
Authorities have once again shut down internet services across the country. Additionally, Turkey has canceled all flights from Istanbul to Tehran in response to the unrest.
