ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Google have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen online safety for children and promote digital awareness across Pakistan.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate through a child safety program aimed at providing parents and teachers with practical guidance and resources to help children stay safe online.
The program will include the development of online child-safety awareness materials in English and local languages. Training programs on online safety will also be conducted at educational institutions.
PTA and Google will further support a nationwide awareness campaign focused on children’s online safety, with officials saying the initiative is expected to provide online safety guidance to millions of families across the country.
PTA Chairman Hafeezur Rehman stressed the importance of collective efforts to protect children in the digital environment, saying parents and teachers must be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to safeguard children online.
The PTA said digital literacy and responsible internet use are essential for creating a safer digital environment. It described the partnership with Google as an important step toward building a safer digital future for children in Pakistan.
