Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the overnight missile and drone strikes targeting civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, voicing Pakistan’s unequivocal solidarity with the Emirati leadership and people amid mounting regional tensions.

In a message posted on X, the prime minister said Pakistan stands firmly beside President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the government of the UAE and the Emirati people during this critical moment.

He underscored that it is imperative for the ceasefire to be upheld and fully respected in order to preserve diplomatic space for meaningful engagement and pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and de-escalation across the region.

Meanwhile authorities in Fujairah said a fire broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone on Monday following what officials described as a drone attack originating from Iran.

Pakistan strongly condemns the missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates last night. I express full solidarity with His Highness @MohamedBinZayed. Pakistan stands firmly with our Emirati brothers and sisters as well as with the Government of…

According to the Fujairah Media Office, civil defence teams were immediately dispatched to contain the blaze and secure the affected site. Iranian authorities did not issue an immediate response to the allegation.

The incident unfolded against a backdrop of renewed volatility in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically significant maritime corridors.

Earlier Iran claimed it had forced a US warship to retreat after it attempted to enter the waterway. Iran’s navy said it issued what it described as a “swift and decisive warning” that prevented “American-Zionist” warships from entering the area.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency later reported that two missiles struck the vessel near the port of Jask, located at the southern entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran maintains a major naval base.

However, a senior US official swiftly rejected the claim, categorically denying that any American warship had been struck.

The latest developments have further intensified tensions in the Gulf, raising fresh concerns over regional security and the stability of critical global energy routes.
