He controlling population growth and promoting family welfare should be treated as a national responsibility.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described Pakistan’s rapidly growing population as the country’s biggest challenge, stressing the need for coordinated efforts to promote population welfare and sustainable development.

Chairing a review meeting on population welfare, the prime minister directed authorities to convene a meeting of the National Population Council at the earliest to accelerate policy implementation.

Shehbaz Sharif said controlling population growth and promoting family welfare should be treated as a national responsibility.

He emphasized that maintaining a balanced population is essential for sustainable national development and long-term economic stability.

The prime minister also called for closer coordination between the federal government and the provinces on population welfare initiatives. He said population planning must be aligned with the country’s development and economic goals.

Highlighting the importance of public engagement, Shehbaz Sharif said an effective nationwide awareness campaign would play a key role in addressing the challenges posed by rapid population growth.
