QUETTA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said terrorists have created serious challenges in Balochistan similar to those faced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vowing that the government will not rest until terrorism is completely eliminated.

Speaking to political leaders in Quetta, the prime minister said that the group he referred to as Fitna‑ul‑Khawarij is receiving full support from a neighboring country.

He added that the field marshal is leading the armed forces in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to restore lasting peace in both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that provinces are being provided resources under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

He recalled that former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisani had demanded a 100 percent increase in the NFC share, a move led by Punjab. He noted that Punjab contributes Rs11 billion from its own share to Balochistan.

The prime minister announced the launch of the Karachi–Chaman four‑lane highway project, saying the initiative would significantly improve connectivity and economic activity in the province. He also said that Danish schools are being established across Balochistan to provide quality education to children.

Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz laid the foundation stone of the Karachi–Chaman four‑lane highway in Quetta. The project is expected to be completed within two years.

Addressing the gathering, the prime minister directed authorities to ensure strict adherence to quality standards and to complete the project ahead of the December 2027 deadline.

He emphasized that Balochistan’s development is integral to Pakistan’s progress, pledging full support and resources for the province’s uplift.

He said the Baloch and Pashtun people played a vital role in the Pakistan Movement and stressed that all four provinces have an equal right to development.

The prime minister further stated that neighboring countries are involved in efforts to destabilize Pakistan, but assured that the armed forces and security agencies will decisively crush terrorism. He added that those attempting to undermine Pakistan’s peace had already received a strong response in May and warned that any future attempts would be dealt with firmly.
