KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its flight operations to several Gulf destinations due to the rapidly changing security situation in the Middle East, the airline’s spokesperson confirmed.

According to the statement, PIA has temporarily halted flights to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Doha, and Kuwait. The suspension will remain in place until at least tomorrow evening or until the restoration of regional airspace, whichever comes first.

Saudi Flights Continue with Revised Routes

Flights to Saudi Arabia will continue; however, their routes have been altered as a precautionary measure. The airline has shifted operations to Boeing 777 aircraft, which will operate on longer alternative routes to reach their destinations safely.

    Advisory for Passengers

PIA has advised passengers to stay updated regarding their flight schedules and booking changes. Travelers are encouraged to contact the airline’s call center at 021-111-786-786 for timely information and assistance.

The spokesperson emphasized that passenger safety remains the airline’s top priority amid the evolving regional situation.

Multiple Flights Diverted to Karachi amid Middle East Tensions

Jinnah International Airport is facing increased operational pressure after several international flights were diverted to Karachi due to the evolving situation in the Middle East, aviation sources confirmed.

Airport authorities stated that parking space at Karachi airport has been temporarily exhausted due to the influx of diverted aircraft.

Airlines have been instructed to coordinate with the Jinnah Terminal administration before initiating any diversion to Karachi.

Officials have made prior coordination mandatory for all diverted flights to ensure smooth ground handling and operational management.

    NOTAM Issued for Two Hours

In light of the situation, a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued for a duration of two hours to regulate air traffic and manage congestion at the airport.

According to sources, three international flights operated by different airlines landed at Karachi airport solely for refueling purposes. The aircraft departed for their respective destinations after completing refueling operations.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure passenger safety and maintain operational efficiency amid the temporary surge in air traffic.
