Susan Sarandon says she is still losing major acting opportunities because of her public views.
The Oscar winning actress talked about the issue during a press conference at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday.
She said some agencies are still telling people not to hire her.
“I’ve still had movies taken away recently because there are agencies that are telling people not to hire me still. But that’s the power structure. I think within the people, certainly internationally, I feel welcome,” she said.
Sarandon was at the festival for her new film The Echo Chamber where she plays a famous singer trying to make a comeback.
The star, however, also thanked director Andrea Pallaoro for giving her the role despite the warnings he received.
“I thank Andrea for that because he didn’t listen to the warnings,” she continued.
Sarandon said she feels that public opinion in the United States has changed, but she believes some people in Hollywood still hold strong feelings against her.
She was dropped by UTA in 2023 after taking part in rallies supporting Palestine.
She, moreover, opened openly about how her activism affected her career.
The actress also said she has found people who support and understand her.
“I found my family, I found my people, and I’m okay.”
Susan Sarandon made it clear that she does not plan to stay quiet about what she believes.
