ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed four more suspected militants during the ongoing Operation ‘Shaaban’ in Balochistan, bringing the total number of militants killed in the operation to 43, according to security sources.
The joint operation, involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and police, has continued across the province with forces targeting militant hideouts in mountainous areas.
Security sources said troops used heavy weapons against militants taking refuge in rugged terrain, resulting in the deaths of four additional suspects. Several others were reported injured during the latest engagements.
Officials said Operation Shaaban, launched on July 5, remains underway, with security forces continuing to target militant sanctuaries across the province.
They added that a total of 79 militants have been killed in Operation Shaaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted in Balochistan since July 5.
Security officials said operations would continue until militant networks are dismantled, reaffirming the state’s commitment to counterterrorism efforts in the province.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate what he described as India-backed terrorism, saying the country’s civil and military leadership would continue operations until all militants are defeated.
Chairing a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta, Sharif expressed concern over a recent surge in militant violence, describing the attacks in Balochistan over the past four days as “very serious incidents.”
According to Pakistani authorities, at least 54 militants were killed during security operations following three major attacks in the province. Officials also said 42 people, including security personnel and civilians, were killed in the violence.
The prime minister praised the sacrifices of the armed forces and civilians, saying the nation stood united in confronting militancy.
