Michael Sheen’s upcoming film Fortitude landed in a major legal fight after the movie’s master copy was reportedly stolen before its release.
The producer behind the project is now asking for at least 105 million dollars in damages, saying the incident has badly affected the film’s future.
Fortitude is a Second World War spy thriller which starring Michael Sheen, Nicolas Cage, Ben Kingsley, Matthew Goode, Ron Perlman, Alice Eve and Lukas Haas.
The film, however, is directed by Simon West and is based on the secret operation that helped the Allies before the D Day landings.
According to court papers, producer Simon Afram and his company gave a digital copy of the finished film to Netflix on June 15, 2026.
Netflix was reportedly considering buying the rights to the movie.
The lawsuit claims the storage drive later went missing from Netflix’s Los Angeles office.
A few days later, Netflix reportedly told the production team that some storage drives were stolen from the office, including the one containing Fortitude.
Afram, moreover, says the missing copy made distributors nervous because they fear the film could appear online before its official release.
Netflix, for the unversed, has denied responsibility as the company says it never owned the film.
