Michael Bolton has finally opened up about what keeps him going after his fight against cancer.
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine, the 72-year-old American singer and songwriter, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2023, has revealed that his three daughters and six grandchildren keep his spirits high during this difficult time.
Bolton said, “It’s unimaginable moving forward without my family being so on board. There’s a certain amount of light they bring. I just feel better to have them there. This is a house of laughter, thankfully.”
His daughter Taryn added, “We’re in this together, and that’s it. … We rely on each other, and we’ve become really close.”
The Grammy-winning singer, whose grandchildren are Amelia, 14, Olivia, 13, Dylan, 11, Grayson, 10, River, 9, and Jack, 8, mentioned that humour has played an “important” part in boosting his courage.
“My kids think he’s so funny, and I think that he loves that. When he makes people laugh, he’s on top of the world. … This house was quiet my whole life. Now, there’s so much noise, but it’s so nice, because it feels more alive,” Taryn noted.
“I want to keep going. I feel there’s still a lot to do on the fight side. I got a title for a song: ‘Ain’t Going Down Without a Fight,’” Bolton emphasised.
For the unversed, the Time, Love & Tenderness crooner completed his chemotherapy and radiations in October last year.
It is pertinent to mention that Michael Bolton’s speech, short-term memory and mobility have been affected.
