LONDON: Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, returned to competitive carriage driving, finishing fourth in the Novice Pony class at the Glebe Estate Carriage Driving Trials in West Sussex.

The 22-year-old royal competed in her first carriage driving event of the season after graduating from the University of St Andrews last month.

She participated in the dressage phase while dressed in traditional tweed attire, complete with a formal tie and protective helmet.

Lady Louise was supported at the event by her boyfriend, Felix da Silva-Clamp, whom she met during her university studies. Keeping a low profile in a cap and sunglasses, he watched from the sidelines as she competed.

Carriage driving trainer Sara Howe, who has seen Lady Louise compete on several occasions, previously praised the couple, describing Felix as supportive while allowing the young royal to focus on her performance.

Lady Louise has long shared a passion for carriage driving with her late grandfather, Prince Philip, who took up the sport after retiring from polo at the age of 50.

Prince Philip remained actively involved in carriage driving for decades, continuing to enjoy the sport well into his 90s.
