Kirk Hammet names the ‘shaky’ Metallica album

Kirk Hammet, one of the most celebrated guitarists in rock, contributed to Metallica’s rise.

After the iconic thrash metal band named their debut album rather unapologetically as an aim at various distributors and retailers too squeamish to stock the original idea for their cover, which was a fist brandishing a dagger from a toilet bowl under the title Metal Up Your A**—1983’s Kill ‘Em All found underground fame amongst metal lovers.

Their guitarist, Hammett, who was also the co-founder of the band Exodus, has always remained vocal about one album that he believes could not reach its full potential due to time constraints and studio naivety.

“There’s like bad notes all over that album,” Hammett told Gibson TV addressing the album Kill ‘Em All.

“…you know bends are kind of shaky… when I think about it it’s just like it gives the album personality… we were just going for it, we were just happy to be there and we were happy to be recorded,” he further explained.

“You know, I would say that Kill ‘Em All is imperfect, but that’s what makes it perfect,” Kirk Hammet concluded.
