LONDON: The Royal Collection Trust has reported a sharp decline in visitor numbers and a significant fall in income, with net revenue dropping by more than £10 million over the past year, raising concerns about the financial outlook for the charity that manages Britain’s royal art collection and historic residences.
According to the trust’s latest annual report, total income for the 2025-26 financial year fell from £13.9 million to £3.5 million, a decline of more than £10 million compared with the previous year.
The Royal Collection Trust, a charitable organization, is responsible for preserving the royal family’s historic art collection and managing public access to sites including Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and other royal residences.
The report attributed the challenging outlook to domestic economic pressures and global factors affecting international travel, warning that both are expected to continue putting pressure on visitor numbers and retail income.
The latest financial update comes as King Charles III continues to face a series of personal and public challenges, including ongoing health concerns and tensions within the royal family.

However, the report did not link the decline in visitor numbers directly to the monarch’s personal circumstances.
