Karachi: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a biting cold wave continues to dominate Karachi, as brisk, icy winds tighten their grip on the city bringing a sharp drop in perceived temperatures.

The metropolis recorded a minimum temperature of 10.2°C, while the feels-like temperature plunged to between 6°C and 7°C heightening the intensity of the cold. The maximum temperature is expected to hover between 20°C and 22°C.

PMD reported that northwesterly winds, blowing at speeds of up to 25 km/h, are amplifying the chill across the city.

Humidity levels remain low at 36 percent contributing to the dry and piercing cold. Skies are expected to stay clear throughout the day with no rainfall anticipated.

The Met Office added that recent rainfall has deepened the cold spell while simultaneously enhancing Karachi’s air quality. Authorities say the cold conditions are likely to persist until January 28.
