The company’s latest development comes as Pakistan continues efforts to increase domestic energy production.

Canadian energy company Jura Energy Corporation announced Friday that it has completed and started production from its Maru-3 development well in Pakistan’s Maru Lease, marking a new step in the company’s efforts to expand natural gas production in the country.

The Maru-3 well is located in the Pirkoh limestone formation, which dates back to the Eocene period. The development well was completed after reaching a total measured depth of 951 meters and has now been connected to production facilities.

Jura said the well produced conventional natural gas at an average rate of about 1.02 million cubic feet per day during a post completion test conducted on a 64/64 inch choke. The test recorded an average wellhead flowing pressure of around 105 pounds per square inch.

Following its connection with production facilities, the well is currently producing approximately 0.7 million cubic feet of gas per day, according to the company.

Jura said it expects production levels to improve after a production build up survey and acid stimulation process, which are planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The Maru Lease covers an area of about 15.41 square kilometers and extends across Rahim Yar Khan district in Punjab and Ghotki district in Sindh.

Jura Energy holds a 10.66% working interest in the Maru Lease, while the project is operated by Pakistan’s state-owned Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).

The Canadian company is involved in the exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas resources in Pakistan. Through its fully owned subsidiaries, Spud Energy Pty Limited and Frontier Holdings Limited, Jura manages interests in several exploration licenses and energy projects across the country.

The company’s latest development comes as Pakistan continues efforts to increase domestic energy production and reduce reliance on imported fuel. New oil and gas discoveries and production projects are being viewed as important steps toward improving the country’s energy security.

Jura said the successful completion of Maru-3 highlights the potential of the Maru Lease and supports its long term plans for energy development in Pakistan. The company will continue monitoring the well’s performance and evaluate further opportunities to enhance production from the project area.
