ISPR slams ‘Bollywood-style’ Op Sindoor documentary, as military success

Pakistan’s armed forces rejected India’s portrayal of Operation Sindoor as a military success, accusing New Delhi of using a highly dramatized documentary to change the account of the May 2025 conflict and present India’s military actions in a favorable light.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and the military’s media wing, said the documentary used selective interviews, emotional narration and cinematic reconstruction to alter the established sequence of events, beacuse India tried to rewrite history with favorite colors.

ISPR said India had still not accepted what Pakistan described as its defeat more than a year after Marka-e-Haq. Instead, it said, India was trying to present a preferred version of the events through a documentary featuring senior political and military leaders.

The military’s media wing called the documentary factually inaccurate and said its presentation was both dramatic and contradictory. It said the production attempted to connect a speech by Pakistan’s army chief on April 16, 2025, with the Pahalgam attack on April 22, calling the link a conspiracy theory.

ISPR also questioned India’s explanation of the purpose of Operation Sindoor. India later said three alleged perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack were identified and killed on July 28, 2025, 82 days after Operation Sindoor. ISPR asked who India claimed to have punished during the May 7 operation if the alleged perpetrators were eliminated later.

The military also rejected India’s claim of “100% mission success.” ISPR said Pakistan’s armed forces stopped Indian aggression during Marka-e-Haq and shot down eight military aircraft.

Pakistan then launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, using Fatah precision guided rockets and missiles, Pakistan Air Force precision munitions, long range loitering munitions and precision artillery against 26 military targets, according to ISPR.

ISPR said statements by Indian military leaders in the documentary also weakened its claim of a decisive victory. It said the documentary acknowledged Pakistani missile, drone and air activity, continued fighting along the Line of Control and the activation of Indian air defense systems.

The military’s media wing also disputed India’s account of how the fighting ended. It said the documentary acknowledged that hostilities stopped after communication between the two directors general of military operations and an agreement to cease military action. The ceasefire was facilitated by the United States, ISPR said.

Pakistan and India, both nuclear armed countries, fought for four days in May 2025 after India struck targets inside Pakistan on May 7. Pakistan responded with Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos on May 10. The confrontation ended the same day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire.

ISPR said Pakistan remained committed to regional peace and stability but warned that any future military misadventure would receive a “firm, decisive and disproportionate response, adding that another such attempt would have serious consequences for India.
