KARACHI: Indus Motor Company (IMC) reported strong financial and operational performance for fiscal year 2025-26, with vehicle sales rising 33% year over year to 45,035 units, reflecting a recovery in market demand.

The company’s net sales reached Rs258.75 billion during the fiscal year, while profit before tax and levies stood at Rs42.82 billion. Net profit after tax was recorded at Rs25.51 billion, with earnings per share reaching Rs324.50.

IMC Chairman Muhammad Ali R. Habib said the company demonstrated the resilience of its business operations during a period of economic stabilization and recovery.

CEO Ali Asghar Jamali said the 33% increase in vehicle sales reflected a recovery in market demand and the strength of the company’s brands.

Pakistan’s overall auto market also recorded a recovery during the fiscal year. Sales of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles increased 39%, according to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

PAMA data showed that sales of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles surpassed 206,000 units in FY2025-26.

IMC said a stable and predictable policy environment was essential for increasing local production, promoting innovation and facilitating technology transfer.

The company said it remained focused on operational excellence, innovation and increasing localization, while cautious capital allocation would help strengthen its competitiveness.

Used vehicle imports accounted for about 19% of the local market, according to the company, highlighting the need for consistent policies to support local manufacturing and localization.

IMC emphasized the importance of a predictable policy framework to encourage investment, expand local production and strengthen the domestic automotive supply chain.

The company also marked a sustainability milestone by completing its target of planting 1 million trees across Pakistan.

IMC said it had also planted 16,000 mangroves in coastal areas of Sindh as part of its environmental initiatives.

About 85% of the company’s dealerships have shifted to solar power, while more than 13% of local suppliers have also adopted solar energy, it said.

IMC spent Rs377 million on corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives during FY2025-26, benefiting 255,761 people.

The number of beneficiaries of the company’s community welfare initiatives increased 27% compared with the previous year, according to the company.
