Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the provincial government will provide laptops and bicycles to more than 100,000 students to support their education and mobility.

She was speaking to participants of a National Workshop from Balochistan, saying she was happy to meet them and warmly welcoming students from the province as guests. She said Punjab’s doors are always open to people from other provinces and pointed out that students from all over Pakistan are studying in Punjab’s educational institutions.

Maryam Nawaz described young people as the future of the country and said that true politics is about serving the public. She reaffirmed her promise to work for all citizens without discrimination, adding that favoritism has been eliminated in Punjab and public money is now being spent transparently for the welfare of the people. She also said that all appointments in the province are being made strictly on merit.

Talking about financial and security issues, the chief minister clarified that Punjab does not receive extra funds and highlighted special measures being taken to reduce crime. She stressed that ensuring a safe environment for women is a top priority and said the Safe City project is being expanded across the province.

She also spoke about housing projects for low-income families, saying that 125,000 houses are currently being built and free medicines are being delivered directly to people’s homes. She added that the government plans to build 500,000 houses within five years.

Highlighting achievements in health and infrastructure, Maryam Nawaz mentioned the establishment of a modern hospital in Sargodha and said the “Suthra Punjab” program has received international recognition. She pointed to electric buses running in Lahore, uninterrupted air quality despite smog conditions, Rs20 fares on Green Buses, free Wi-Fi across Lahore, and the construction of bus stations throughout Punjab. She added that a cardiac hospital will be set up in every district before the end of her term.

Addressing the needs of special-needs children, she said 30,000 surgeries have already been performed and centers of excellence are being set up in every city. She also shared that 20,000 kilometers of roads are being built across Punjab and assured that drainage issues in cities will be resolved within one year.

In addition, she said Punjab has introduced air ambulance services, launched the Honahar Scholarship Program for talented students who cannot afford education costs, and plans to provide another 100,000 children with bicycles and laptops.
