    • “Certain forces aim to transfer powers to Islamabad.”

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday said that certain forces were attempting to undermine Sindh’s rights and seize its resources under the pretext of poor governance.

Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the inauguration of a new campus of NED University in Tharparker, Bilawal said that a campaign is being run to portray the provincial government as inactive.

He warned that certain forces were using this false narrative to justify seizing Sindh’s resources and to roll back powers granted under the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

“It is being said that the PPP has done nothing and that powers should be handed over to Islamabad,” said Bilawal.

Referring to the establishment of the NED University campus in Tharparker, Bilawal said that his party loves the people of Sindh and has brought about a major change in the district.

“Tharparkar has as much coal as Saudi Arabia has oil,” said the PPP chairman.

He further said that the people of Sindh were not allowed to utilise their resources. “When [former prime minister] Benazir Bhutto started the work, she was stopped under a conspiracy,” Bilawal added.

This one project has not only brought an economic revolution in Tharparkar but also provided electricity to Islamabad, said the PPP leader.

“Due to government investment, a network of health institutions was laid throughout Tharparkar,” said Bilawal.

A certain part of the coal profits is given to the Thar Foundation, said the PPP chairman.

Bilawal said that the provincial government would convert it into a full-fledged university before the end of the government’s term.

The PPP-led Sindh government has doubled the number of universities in the province from 2008 to today, said the PPP chairman.
