Blake Lively may have won the latest round of her legal battle with Jed Wallace, but the fight over who pays the bills is turning into a whole new courtroom drama.
Wallace, the crisis PR specialist who worked with Justin Baldoni’s team during his legal battle with Lively, is asking a Texas judge to make the actress sit for another deposition before he pays a cent toward her legal expenses.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Wallace wants to question Lively specifically about her request for attorneys’ fees and damages.
His focus? Whether she acted with malice when making sexual harassment allegations involving him and his company, Street Relations Inc.
Wallace claims Lively failed to follow the legal process and was a no-show for her deposition.
He argues that if she wants him to cover her legal bills, he should be allowed to question her about what she knew and believed when she made the allegations.
Lively’s attorneys aren’t exactly impressed.
“Jed Wallace already took Ms. Lively’s deposition. His case was dismissed. Ms. Lively won. This is yet another desperate, meritless attempt by Wallace to go after Ms. Lively out of fear that he may face the same kind of fee award that Ms. Lively won from Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios in New York.”
Wallace previously sued Lively for defamation in Texas, but the case was dismissed after the court determined it lacked jurisdiction over her.
Lively later sought roughly $800,000 in attorneys’ fees, along with additional costs and damages.
Now Wallace is essentially saying: before the check gets written, he wants answers under oath. And he’s betting those answers could change who pays whom.
