Armed militants belonging to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) abducted a woman at gunpoint on Wednesday evening in the Balicha area of District Kech, raising fresh concerns over the safety of civilians in the region.
According to official sources, the incident occurred between 4:30 pm and 4:45 pm when a Corolla car stopped outside a residence in Balicha. The armed men forcibly abducted a woman, identified as Nargis, and fled the scene.
The victim’s husband and nephew immediately followed the vehicle and managed to intercept it near the Nasirabad area. During the confrontation, one of the militants emerged from the car armed with a Kalashnikov, while additional militants arrived on motorcycles to provide backup.
The family members were physically assaulted during the encounter, and their mobile phones were confiscated before the abductors escaped with the victim. Officials said the coordinated use of firearms and reinforcements indicates an organised militant operation carried out in broad daylight.
Security officials noted that such incidents highlight the continued targeting of civilians by militant groups, with women increasingly becoming victims of coercion and violence. The abduction has spread fear among residents and disrupted normal life in the area.
