Anna Paquin talked about Hollywood and the way young actors are treated after the death of Hayden Panettiere.
Paquin, who started acting as a child herself, said more needs to be done to protect children who enter the entertainment world.
She won an Oscar when she was only 11 for The Piano.
Her comments came after Panettiere died at the age of 36 on August 16. Panettiere also started her career as a child and later became known for Heroes, Nashville and the Scream movies.
Paquin, however, shared that young female actors can be treated like adults too soon.
She was especially talking about the way some young actresses are sexualised while they are still children.
She also remembered Michelle Trachtenberg and Daveigh Chase, who became known as child stars and died before reaching 40.
Paquin also wanted former child stars who had painful experiences to know that they are not alone. She offered to listen to them and support them.
At the same time, she made it clear that her comments were not about every film or television set.
Paquin added she has worked on projects where young actors were treated with care and their wellbeing came first.
Her comments have received support from other actors who also started working when they were young.
